UNIcycle Shop NZ is a family business aiming to promote the GREAT sport of unicycling in
NZ, and be a friendly source of information and unicycles.
UNIcycle Shop was established
in 2003 - so 2008 is our 6th year supplying unicycles in NZ. We have
hundreds of satisfied customers.
Our goal has been to promote
unicycling in NZ. It has been a delight to see many people in NZ
introduced to the delights of unicycling, and to see unicycling gain
more visibility in NZ. The final goal is obviously global domination by
NZ unicyclists - NZ could become the #1 unicycle country in the world.
As kiwi's are quick adopters of ideas, adventurous, pioneers, innovators
& love the outdoors, unicycling could become another area where we lead
the world....
Our family was introduced to unicycles through a cousin, who purchased a
20" unicycle, and demonstrated it with glee. John (age 11) quickly
bought his first 20", and was riding it within 3 days. Big brother
Joseph (age 14) quickly bought himself a 20", and learnt to ride
quickly. Within 2 months, Joseph & John were having great fun, and had
learnt to mount, ride, idle, hop and ride backwards.
Next purchase was a giraffe, which Joe and John easily learnt to ride.
Now .... nearly 5 years later, younger brother Timothy (age 13) & oldest
sister Amelia have also learnt to unicycle. Dad (David) has gradually
figured it out (to the mirth of his sons) & is trying to ride backwards.
Mum is learning slowly. Luke (age 10) learnt on a 16" when he was 5 & has now graduated
to a 20" unicycle.
We've also made a two-wheel
unicycle (no - not a bicycle ... this one has one wheel vertically over
the other) and a three-wheel unicycle (three wheels vertically)

We've even made a unicycle with training wheels (12" unicycle) for Esther (age
5) to ride!!!!!

And version 2 with a 16" unicycle

And version 3 with a 20" unicycle ... coming soon
We now have some other trainer wheels in
stock - designed by an enthusiastic person somewhere in the world. We
haven't tried them sp no guarantees about how they work. They fit a 20"
unicycle (as pictured below), but could also be adapted for a 16"
unicycle. If you would like a set of these, they are $75 + freight.

As a family, we have found unicycling to be great fun, and have really
enjoyed the challenge it brings. We found it difficult to buy unicycles
in NZ, so we have established this on-line shop to help you get your
hands on good quality unicycles at an affordable price.
We also run a charitable trust (Kings Trust) which has about 60
unicycles on loan to schools.
Happy UNIcycling.
